Tanya ‘Teeh’ Manibusan
As a lot of people don’t know… there’s a racial identity called ‘Pacific Islander’. Obviously it’s for indigenous people from places like Tahiti, Hawaii, Guam, and New Zealand. Cut a long story short… it’s used for anyone of Melanesian, Micronesia and Polynesian descent. There’s also a term used for their music which is…. you guessed it – ‘Island Songs’.
I always had a thing for Island Songs, ever since I heard this Maori bloke in Yahoo! voice chat singing. It was sweet as pie. Not really sure how to describe the sound – but my attempt would be ‘emotional, happy, and wistful’ kind of sound.
I recently found out about a lady called Tanya Manibusan. An awesome highschool chick with a mad funny accent! Needless to say I’m highly impressed with her singing. I’ve even taken the liberty of pirating the YouTube videos and are bumping them in my car stereo. At 17 years old, this woman is a phenomenal singer of the likes I’ve never seen. Anyways… I’ll let the YouTube videos do the talking.

Wow…i love your voice, and the songs you write. I wish i knew you personally as a school friend or something, because you are HOT. The first song i heard (“Fuck Da Bitch”) i was on my friends myspace and not really suposed to be there, so i didn’t have time to listen to the rest of anything, but it stayed in my head the whole time til now. (that was probly two weeks) But ya anyways…i just saw about all your videos posted on youtube, and i love them all. I want to say sorry about your baby, and friends. I bet that was tough. the copy of “Blue Darlin’” posted above is a pirated copy for which the original composer, Lessie Lyle, is receiving absolutely no royalties to the estate. this song was not licensed by this artist and it is being performed illegally. i urge all of ms. teeh’s fans to realize this and not become complicit in a conspiracy to defraud the estate. legal action is currently pending and defendants and co-defendants will have to appear before a magistrate in a U.S. Court to answer for ‘theft of copywrited material’, ‘fraud’ and ‘deceptive trade practices’. this is a crime. lawsuits will follow. fair notice has been given.

Well, here we are, again, with the mumbo jumbo about who ‘RIGHTFULLY” owns this song. All that legal bull you just wrote, is just that! I don’t know who you are as you do appear..well, not there..You can take all that talk and apply it to whomever decided to record it without a license..you need to check your business before you start encouraging people to go ahead and record without such..check with Sony on who wrote the song and who is getting royalties..WE ARE!! By the way, we are waiting on the royalties check from Chris Isaak..It ought to be a doozy!

Uhhhh it seems to me Tanya isn’t making any money at all from this recording, and looks to me like she’s doing it for fun.
It’d be different if she decided to record it for an album but that hasn’t happpened so arguing over the royalties seems pointless to me.
