Obama observations

I think Barack Obama’s original intentions in saving cash by making federal buildings energy efficient is noble… but I’m not sure he’s given any thought to reducing the cost of the Presidency itself.  One person he could learn a great deal from about that is someone who’s reduced the cost of a country’s Presidency from $150million down to $4million – President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives.

To find a politician who is a bonafide honest good person is rare in this world… and some of the things he’s trying to do should become a manual for world leaders on how to preside over a country.  Check out the story on BBC News.

Then there’s the visit by the First Lady to the Department of the Interior which highlighted the lack of Native press organisations/reporters. That’s pretty stupid considering that Native news organisations across America have a pretty big readership.

Barack Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” contains a catchy title. It has a taste of bravery mixed confidently. There is nothing Pollyanna about that. I might not support almost everything he says, but he’s our president, and then for me, he inspires belief. That can do more for any region than any amount of backroom deals. Hope gives us energy, and energy sustains us through trying times. Boy, we’ve had them. I’m from West Texas, and I did not vote for Bush. When McCain ran against Obama, I was a citizen of Arizona, but I gave audacious hope a chance. The fight for progress and laying the foundations of prosperity will not be over. I’ve come across the quips of those who don’t believe Obama is capable of it. But step back a moment. Would anyone have all of us fail in order to tarnish the star of an incumbent for whom they didn’t vote? Keeping our priorities straight, let’s work together with this president and build our future.
