That’s right folks… I now have a new daughter who was born on February 15th 2007. Her name is Alex Maryse Cobiness Paul.
There was an emergency in the maternity ward with her being born, and my woman had to get a Caesarean section.
They gave her a drug called Citosis or something like that to make the contractions start… and to cut a long story short, it caused the baby’s heart beat to drop from 160 to 60 per minute. They kicked me out of the O.R on the pretence of getting scrubbed up. Once I had they wouldn’t let me back in. It was so urgent that the Senior Obstetrician told the nurses to stop painting the iodine on my woman, and to pour it instead which they did. The whole process only took about eight minutes, but it was the longest eight minutes of my life.
You can be sure I will post more about this soon, along with pictures.
Stuff is going as good as could be expected. I’m sitting here in the York Hotel in Winnipeg at the guest courtesy computer – it’s probably about minus fifty degrees with the windchill outside. COLD!
We went to get the amniotic fluid test on Friday, but the doctor said that the baby wasn’t ready to be delivered, so we have to wait until Tuesday probably. Baby had turned downward ready to be born, but for some strange reason turned back into the breach position.
A couple of days ago I offered to make a family website for one of my old friends, with no strings attached. She’d just had a very beautiful baby about a week ago, and I figured as do I, that most parents would love the chance to show off pictures of their children. She deleted her myspace.com profile right after that which made me wonder a little. Rhiannon – if you’re reading this, and it was because of me… I didn’t mean nothing by it, and I’m sorry if I freaked you out in any way. Wuz just trying to be nice.
I LOVE my job with a passion… website designing and developing is one place where I can create something that works and is of use to someone. But lately I’ve been getting extremely bummed out at work. I’m not really sure why either. It’s not affecting my work… but it is getting to me terribly.
Things are getting a WHOLE LOT better at home. Not really sure why but my lady’s freaking out far less… we’re not arguing anymore which is awesome. Hopefully this will last a long time
I might have a daughter in two days! Yippee hooray!
Today was alright at work…
Worked all day slicing up images for one outfitter’s website. It’s tiring doing that.
Stuff is still pretty much the same at home – there was a real turbulent patch a couple of weeks ago… still is turbulent. Pregnant women can be extremely difficult to live with sometimes hahahahaha! Can’t wait… I could have a daughter as early as a week Monday. Amniotic fluid test is on Friday… depending on what the doctors say, the Monday after that could be the day.
Before I came to Overdrive, I was a beginner at PHP… I’m at a mid-intermediate level right now. I can sometimes fix programs that have broken, and can write a few very small php snippets to aid in website building and functionality. I’d love to go to school to learn php programming, but there’s noone around here that can teach it that I know of.
About a week ago I got four new GT Champiro 128 tyres for my Toyota Matrix. I had to buy all four instead of just two because it’s All Wheel Drive. The traction was 100% completely crapty. I mean, bare F1 tyres would have had more traction. These were labelled as All-Season tyres but I could barely stay on the road – nearly broadsided a Dodge RAM coming out of McDonalds. So I went back to Northern Tire and Auto Service in Kenora, and Dave (the guy who owns it) was great about it… called up his representative who wasn’t happy about the returned tyres. I paid an extra $80 and got Hancook’s. THEY’RE AWESOME! Almost like having winter tyres. I love my car. I’ll post a picture of it tomorrow if I can.
It’s going to be -35 degrees tomorrow apparently which will really suck!
I did my first Youtube video blog, where I basically talked crap about nothing in particular. I think I’m going to make it a regular slot doing that. Seems fun to be able to vent, rant and rave about anything and have people watch it.
Three days ago after the woman went to play cards, I got a couple of my old Mp3 cd’s and cranked up the system. Nicolas and myself danced solidly from 8pm to 12pm and it was the most fun I’d had in five years. Nicolas was jumping up and down to each song that came on, with me copying him, and him playing the guitar with a plastic kids rake. His entire body from the waist up was bright red by the time the music had stopped.
I’d been on a bit of a downer again, so I figured I’d interact with Nicolas a little more than usual. It certainly worked because I was on a cloud for all of the next day. Science says endorphins are supposed to make you happy… dancing must release them because both my boy and I were having the time of our lives. I used to think dancing was pointless, and to some degree it is… but if you’re feeling blue, don’t be a pig and go out and eat – go and dance with a child. The glee in Nico’s smile was heartwarming.
Music’s got an extremely powerful effect on people – I know for sure with me. It can bring out a whole range of emotions. Some of the music I was playing made me wistfully remember my youth, and made me wish I was 13 again. I Think We’re Alone Now by Tiffany was one of them. Chain Reaction by Diana Ross was another… ahh the good old days.
Same ol’ shyt is still happening on the rez. No better, no worse. It’ll never change. I did have a good insight from one of the teen girls on the reserve about hatred between the families. It seems that a lot of young people think that certain families hate other families. Sorry to break it to everyone, but it just isn’t like that. Certain families just want to be left alone, without being talked about, or victimised in any way shape or form. There’s no hatred or secret agenda to stick it to other families on the rez. Hopefully one day Dalles will be a great place to live.
A while back I was watching APTN and seen this woman called Suzette Amaya talking about her experiences. Cut a long story short she was violated as a youth, testified against the guy and now is successfully doing her own thing as a wife, mother of two, photographer and a radio host. The radio show is called ThinkNDN and you can check that out @ www.thinkndn.ca and listen to it online at coopradio.org. Figured I could help out by registering the domain name for them, and by hosting them at nativesweb.com. The site is brand new, and was designed by a guy called Greg Pierre.
For work I’ve been trying to get details on online payments directly through a bank. Toronto Dominion told me to talk to the local branch manager which is plenty fine. CIBC are a bunch of silly fools (as a whole). Keep directing me to this Global Payments company crap. I can’t believe that a billion dollar bank such as CIBC doesn’t have any of their own systems for their customers who want to accept payments online. No wonder TD is larger than they are. I still haven’t forgotten that CIBC wouldn’t give me a loan, but TD would. As a result I hardly ever bank at CIBC anymore.
My woman’s getting all stressed out and pissed off that I want to go out on Saturday nights with my boss. She seems to think that because when she was single and went to the bar to hook up with single guys that I’m going to do that with some chick. Her bullcrap is more than enough to make celibacy seem awesome, let alone pick up some drunken whore in a bar, take her home and bang her. It just ain’t me. Proudly I can say I’ve never cheated on anyone in my life.
Nico’s birthday is tomorrow. Gonna have a lil’ shindig at the Community Center. More on that later.
I’m sure everyone knows that I now have my next car. It’s a 2003 AWD Toyota Matrix. It’s white, and is in immaculate condition with 47,000KM when I bought it.
For those who don’t know… All Wheel Drive means that the four-wheel drive is controlled automatically by the onboard computer – if the back wheels are spinning at a greater rate than the front wheels, the 4×4 kicks in automatically. Jolly good eh?
I bought one of those cheap $16 car vacuum cleaners and use that everyday, and I wipe down the insides once a day. This car WILL be kept in top shape no matter what it costs. It MUST last me at least five years. Bearing in mind the extensive research into car models and manufacturers, I’ve complete confidence that all Japanese brands are AWESOME… not like the other north american crap being sold to millions across the world.
Lorraine’s feeling more and more pregnant every day. I’m scared of having another child for obvious reasons… nervous… and elated all at the same time.
My ultimate goal in the area of careers seems to be changing – the options I want are below.
I’m having serious internal conflict and issues about the fact that I am none of the above. DAMN IT ALL!
On a great note… there’s a movie being shot in Kenora. The production company are renting space in our office… the movie’s called ‘Juliana and the Medicine Fish‘, with Jessica Amlee, Rob Schneider, Gordon Tootoosis and Alex Rice. I’ve been foozing Jessica and it’s just awesome. I can officially add that I’ve foozed a movie star. BTW – Jessy’s 12yrs old hahahaha!
Nicolas is getting scratched, bitten and pinched by one of his cousins which I’m not happy about at all. If it doesn’t stop, a few words in the cousin’s mother’s ear will be happening for sure!
I guess this is as good a time as any to announce the announcement…
My woman’s going to have another child – she’s 9 weeks and 6 days along. Estimated date of delivery is March 12 2007.
This one’s going to be done right this time. Insulin taken frequently, with a low sugar and low fat diet. More water and less carbonated drinks.
If the domestic situation doesn’t calm down immediately, I’m going to do something I’ve never wanted to do – move out. If it secures the health and life of my child, I’ll be gone from this house.
But this is definitely a HAPPY THING
We went to an ultrasound last week. The foetus actually moved – it doubled up, rather it bent at the waist. I was amazed that at that early stage a foetus can move that much.
I’m spending far too much time at Frontline games. Networking Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield 2 is highly addictive and I almost can’t get enough of it. One negative thing that really bothered me is that one of Lorraine’s friends from Rat Portage asked her if I’m a pervert because I spend so much time in there. How ignorant can you get? Because I love computer games I diddle children? I thought she was a nice person, but obviously I was wrong. Can’t be that great a person to make an ignorant judgement about someone based upon the fact that I unknowingly happened to be sitting next to her daughter in Frontline.
Work is going good… fortunately I’m in a job that I truly love. Web development… behind the scenes construction of web sites… additions, changes, deletions. I want to expand but it’s not my business so there’s no way. Going out on my own might be an option far in the future, but it’s not feasible now.
I had a major harddrive meltdown on Monday. The PC wouldn’t boot to Windows. I lost a day’s pay by staying at home on Tuesday which made me rather mad. Luckily we retrieved 20GB of data and so now we’re working off the external hard drive and the other internal hard drive that doesn’t have the operating system on.
Life with Nicolas is going great. He’s potty trained almost 100%. Every so often he’ll dump in his pants, but he’s got the whole thing down. Saving us a ton of money in diapers… lot more underpants washing though.
I want to move to Vancouver, but it’ll never happen because I have to be where my boy is, and Lorraine would never agree to taking him there. She’ll never move away from Kenora either.
I’m successfully keeping up the pumping iron regime at the recreation centre gymnasium. I’m going four times a week but after this weekend I’ll be going five days a week. My rest days will be Wednesday and Saturday. Eating five times a day is getting hard to keep with but it’s all worth it because I’ve already put on about 6lbs in weight. The weights I lift are getting heavier each time. You wouldn’t think that lifting two 5lb weights in front and side lateral raises is very hard but my personal trainer Darryl is teaching me the correct technique for everything… and lifting those two five pound weights hurts like hell after 4 sets of 15.
Getting into the fitness lifestyle is very hard to start with but a breeze once you’re into it. I find myself wanting to go to the gym every day, but of course the muscle rest time is needed.
I still hate a few certain people who live on this reserve. Hate is something hard for me to let go of (if ever) once I start. I don’t hate for petty reasons either.
Good thing is that England beat Trinidad & Tobago two nil in the World Cup. Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney are the golden guys… I think we’re going to win it this time. I’m certain that if we do, I’m going to have to break my rule of no alcohol, get wasted and party for the whole damn weekend. If England wins the World Cup, I reckon it should be turned into a national holiday.
Crappy Canadian television is still running crappy sports like Ice Hockey, Basketball and Baseball when the World Cup is on. Isn’t it a bit ironic that Canada and the U.S’s major sports are all pirated from British games, or are British invented? Like hellooooooo get some originality… invent your own games!
