Right and wrong

This is possibly going to be my last post for the next two months – as I start my BMQ in Winnipeg tomorrow!  So I figured I’d just do a bullet list to simplify the points.

Michael Jackson impersonators

About nineteen months ago I put up a post with a collection of the best Michael Jackson impersonators I’ve seen.  Since then most of the videos have been taken down by their users.

Aside from the recent furore I’ve been a die-hard Jackson fan for the last twenty-five years and have listened to his music every day for pretty much the entire twenty-five years.  Check my mp3 player in my car and you’ll find at least half a dozen songs on there plus another half dozen remixes.  I’ve watched many many Michael Jackson impersonators.  By far two of the best I’ve ever seen were some teenager who was performing at a highschool dance – the vid was on Youtube and the user removed it.  The other one of course is Suleman Mirza who was on Britain’s Got Talent – his original performance blew me away.

Because the previous list got ruined by people removing their vids I decided to recreate it with different people.

Off the bat, this guy ‘Hafid’ is brilliant.  If he used dress pants instead of jeans, had a fullsize fedora hat, and sharpened up his moves just ever so slightly he’d be close to the best.

Here he is in Times Square… even with crappy quality you can see he’s got the moves down!

This guy Ben Jackson would be awesome if he wasn’t so bloody tall.

The height is getting in his way – longer legs makes it harder to do the moves.

Women in combat

I’ve always been a fan of beautiful women. I’ve also never understood why many militaries in the world seem to have an aversion to putting female soldiers in the line of fire. As was the case with Canadian Captain Nichola Goddard who was an extremely competent Forward Observation Officer who was killed in the line of duty in the area of Kandahar, Afghanistan… female soldiers are extremely competent – without a doubt just as efficient killers as men are.

The women in the photo at the top are all members of the 2-147th Assault Helicopter Battalion, National Guard based in Minnesota. All of them have flown combat missions in Iraq and taken fire – not just transporting groceries around the safer parts of the country.

Check out this video of Captain Andrea Ourada talking about the mission in which she was flying the Blackhawk helicopter when they started taking fire.

You can read this news story from the MinnPost about their combat mission in Iraq.

There’s also a video featuring Chief Warrant Officer Nicole Schuman  – an Apache attack helicopter pilot with more than 1000 combat hours.

With the amount of female soldiers in America’s armed forces they could add hundreds of thousands of extra combat troops to their arsenal if the Yanks would just get over their fear of seeing female soldiers being killed in combat.

What it comes down to is sexism.  It’s the same kind of predjudice that stopped black folks from being American fighter pilots in World War Two.    It’s about time militaries from all over the world stopped discriminating against females and gay people.  They can fight just as hard as anyone else!

Apple Macs suck

Recently I’ve been having a semi-debate with a friend of my sister’s on Facebook about Apple Macintosh computers.  I followed the debate up by having a laugh at the Get A Mac advertisements on television.  I have to give Apple their dues… those ads are side splittingly hilarious!  So obviously I started to look for anti-Mac ads.  I came across this one…

One of the funnier things are some of the comments on Youtube…

another thing you cant do if you own a mac is shut the fuck up about why your machine is better. it’s actually only a better machine if you’re a hippy making collages of flowers. A friend of mine told me that he’s going to buy a mac and just put vista on it, so he wins twice. except macs are probably more expensive than a custom computer with more power than a mac? can even compute without crashing.

GuitarSheder595
If you’re a f**king retard than a mac is for you, because it has all those pretty buttons and ‘easy’ to? use interfaces, but what people don’t realize is that they’re pieces of shit. They freeze up all the time, all they can do is edit photos and videos and they cause a shit load of money. You can get can a normal mac desktop for like $2000 while you can get a decked out pc for like $800-$1000. Overall fuck off macs.

jorman62194
Haha..i totally agree with what all of you say. This shit is so gay how mac people think they are god. Face the facts….MACS SUCK. i love it when my neighbors mac locks up..and he calls me over to fix it. Yeh..and the nice HP next to him is happily working while my best friend is laughing at his dad with his garbage imac. YAY PC…btw W 7..same thing as vista..its Vista SP2.. but cuz vista has a bad name…ppl like? 7 better…same thing..Vistas are good…as long as u no what to fix

TeamSwitzerland1
PC= easy? and fun
MAC= hard and ‘fun’ and expensive and slow and crossover and errors and no downloading crap and no f**king right clicking and the f**king speak function that won’t shut the fuck up and shit and crap and bullcrap and shitty piece of shit and some more shit!

And PCs= simple.

EBKemanon
So there I was looking at the Mac Pro. Sure was expensive,? but the site said it was so powerful! Then I realized I was using a PC vastly more powerful than that, and that combined with my printer, scanner, monitor and all other accessories had come out to cost less than half the basic price of the Mac Pro!

That sure is some Apple Tax!

Apple: A tax on the ignorant.

Here’s a funny video entitled ‘Mac morons can’t talk without using their hands’…

Yellowknife gets a new Canadian Forces Reserve unit

Amidst all the international nonsense going on with many nations  falsely claiming sovereignty over Canadian waters and undersea mineral/oil rights…  I’m quite pleased to find out the Canadian Forces have announced the creation of a new military unit in Yellowknife.

According to this story from CBC

The unit is part of the federal government’s initiative “to increase the defence presence in the North, as part of the government’s strategy for Arctic defence,” said Lt.-Col. Lyle Herod, who hosted an open house in the city on Tuesday night.

For anyone who reads international news and concentrated in Geography in school, they’ll know there’s a region called the ‘Northwest Passage’ which is basically all the water ways between the islands that are in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

Not surprisingly the Americans (along with the European Union) think it’s an international route giving them the right to invade Canada’s territory.

So basically this Reserve Unit is to enforce Canada’s territorial assertions.  The phrase ‘use it or lose it’ is pretty relevant.  The Canadian Rangers will probably end up being paired with the Unit whenever they are out on patrol but obviously won’t partake in combat if that need ever arises.

Yayyyy for military expansion!

Wotever

I reckon it’s definitely a positive thing that the Pakistani military is sending helicopter gunships to help the civilians who are banding together to fight the Taliban. With a nuclear arsenal – it’s quite obvious to anyone with a  brain that Pakistan is the greatest threat to world peace.  It’s immensely reassuring that Pakistan’s considerable population are against the Taliban.

According to this next news story… smoking costs the NHS more than £5billion a year.  I’ve been saying all along that smokers shouldn’t get free health care.  Let them pay their own damn costs instead of the taxpayer.  Makes me sick that non-smokers should have to pay to help people who voluntarily and willingly ruin their own health!

Another story reports that Gordon Brown imposed a ridiculous spending limit in Afghanistan during 2006, which basically restricted the British Army in doing things like fighting, patrols, etc.  That sort of stupid incompetence is one reason why Britain’s cabinet is all fucked up right now.

On a good note… I go for Basic Military Qualification in Winnipeg on July 2nd, and then off to Soldier Qualification during August.
