The world never ceases to amaze me

The reason for the title is for a number of reasons. Habib Khan, a Muslim from Stoke-on-Trent, was jailed for eight years for stabbing his neighbour – a British Nationalist Party member – to death. Whilst I’ll never condone people going outside the law in most cases, I sympathise with Mr Khan because it’s quite obvious that living next door to a BNP member would have been worse than a death sentence.

Then there’s the case of a guy from the Russian state of Ingushetia being shot dead. The owner of a prominent website criticising the state government of Ingushetia in Russia was shot dead – according to police reports he was being led to a car when he tried to grab a police pistol and was shot in the head. Do the Russians really think they’re fooling anyone?

I’m getting rather miffed at the current state of affairs on this planet. It won’t do.

Who says drinking doesn’t solve any problems?

Alcohol is the scourge of families the world over resulting in millions of broken families and causing untold problems.

But for one geezer, getting hammered at the bar in Heathrow quite literally saved Jaswant Basuta’s life.

Fate seemed to have dealt this bloke a lucky hand… much like this .

Use of the death penalty

I read a few days ago one method of executing people in Iran is to bury those sentenced to death in the ground; men up to their waists, and women up to their neck.  Then people throw specially selected rocks at their head – big enough to cause pain and suffering, but not big enough to kill them outright.

This punishment would be perfect for this woman convicted of killing her one-month old daughter by microwaving her.  If anyone ever deserved to die a painful and horrible death, it’s this woman.

Foreigners voting in American elections

Usually I purposely pay as little attention as possible to American politics unless it will directly affect me – but of late I’ve made an exception…  the Democratic convention is fascinating.  The entire elective process going on in Dixie is riveting.  A newbie Senator with next to no foreign policy experience, or an old fart Senator intent on spending billions of dollars more in Iraq… choices choices.  Oh I forgot I’m not a Yank so I can’t do anything hahahaha.

Canada’s military getting the shaft

Even though I’m not yet a voter… I was very pleased when the Conservatives came to power for one reason only – their defence procurement was thought to go sky high.

The Prime Minister’s promises of asserting Canada’s sovereignty in the Arctic was a splendid idea.  I’m not against the government spending lots of my taxes on Canada’s military.  I’ve always been of the opinion that Canada needs to add in the very least Read more...

Observations on Forum Regulars

There’s a small core group of people on a support forum I frequent whose attitude when it comes to disputes or difficult discussions I despise.  I get into heated debates a lot on the forum… and a lot of it comes mainly from some of the flunkies on the forum who like to ridicule and insult other forum members who choose to voice their negative opinions about Hostgator in a way that person wouldn’t. No Respect For The Russians

I’ve always had a respect for Russia since Vladimir Putin was President. He made the country strong and respected throughout the world again.

I even emailed President Medvedev and said something like although I think Russia’s assassination of Alexandar Litvnenko with nuclear material was a nuclear attack on Britain, I admired Vladimir Putin for making Russia strong.

Mauritius at the Olympics

Although Team Mauritius hadn’t ever won a medal at the Olympics up till 2008, we’ve still some splendid athletes.  This was our Olympics and we finally won a medal – in Bantamweight Boxing, when the Mauritian Magician, the Creole Crusher Bruno Julie handed a huge serving of knuckle sandwich to Hector Manzanilla Rangel of Venezuela to win the Bronze medal.

Contributing Factors for Rape

I was doing some general web browsing for nothing in particular when I came across a story on BBC News about a female rape victim who successfully had a ruling overturned that reduced her compensation because she had been consuming alcohol before the attack. That got me to thinking… about whether provocative clothing is one of the causes of rape. Read more...
