I went to Kathy’s house yesterday and today. Kathy was having problems with her Toshiba laptop being exceedingly slow. Apparently it’s already been replaced four times due to overheating. Now she has to keep it on a metal rack, on top of this piece of metal so the air can circulate underneath it.
I got onto the computer and started to uninstall many of the stupid pc cleanup programs that had been downloaded, as well as some unused programs. There was one program called MyWebSearch or something similar to that, that kept popping up refusing registry changes. So I went about uninstalling that.
Kathy continued using her computer and turned it off before she went to sleep. Upon turning it on in the morning her keyboard wouldn’t work and half of her programs had disappeared.
I went around there and connected that laptop to Amber’s laptop with a network cable and copied all of the remaining files that Kathy wanted over. Did the whole restore disc thing and got the computer back to its decent stage.
One program I’ve found increasingly useful is Spybot. It’s half decent at finding spyware, but the part of it I’ve come to love is the system settings protection thing. I’m sure there’s other programs out there that do that, but I just like Spybot’s capabilities in that area. Any registry changes have to be approved/prevented via an automatic popup from Spybot. Very effective. I installed that, as well as AVG Free Antivirus. I had to explain to Kathy that having Norton Antivirus 2004 and not keeping it updated is worse than having a free fully updated antivirus. I’m going to go around there either tomorrow or Saturday and install Ad-Aware 2007, and the drivers for her printer. Getting her to keep to a schedule of scanning for spyware and virii will be the hard part. Getting her to not allow her children on there will be even harder.
Today was a big milestone for Nicolas. He spent his first day at school. School started at 0845 and ended at 1520. His teacher is pretty nice. We sent him to Lakewood School instead of Mount Carmel because Mount Carmel’s a Catholic school. Students there are made to go to Mass, the teachers indoctrinate the students to believe that God and Jesus are the only real gods. In religious education there’s a complete concentration on Christianity and there’s no learning about other religions.
If my son grows up to become Christian then that’s his business, but I’m not going to have him unfairly influenced into Christianity like some of his cousins here already are. That’s the good side to Lakewood School… there’s no special religious biased. The down sides are the large majority of kids there are white (Nicolas’s class is evident of this). I’ve seen a lot of racism coming from very young children in this town and I’m afraid that Nicolas will experience it more in Lakewood School. Most of the native kids are getting sent to Mount Carmel. But at least Nicolas’s cousin Talia is in the same school and class, so at least they’ll have someone familiar there with them.
Packing Nicolas’s lunch was an ordeal… 3 sandwiches of bologna, 3 juice packs, 3 granola bars, an apple, banana, 1 fruit cup and 3 sugary snack packs. The locker space is meagre but he’ll have to learn to manage. I was more freaked out than Nicolas was… he just took it all in his stride.
Onto something else… today at work wasn’t good. I got very angry, and somewhat ‘hurt emotionally’ I guess is the correct phrase. The boss doesn’t appreciate my talents. I work extremely hard, and am ALWAYS willing to go that extra mile, always willing to do overtime, and always willing to go over and above.
I’ve been taking various photographs with my new Panasonic DMC-L27 camera. It’s got 7.2 megapixel resolution and a 1:2.8-4.5/6.1-36.6 Lumix lens. It takes very high quality photographs. The options are too numerous to count. Thought it was rather funny that it didn’t have an viewing hole though ha!
I recently searched on Google for the name of a staff member at Nugent House where I used to live in Billinge, St. Helens. His name was Basil Williams-Rigby. I knew there was allegations against him which I never for one second believed… but I only just found out that he was accused of sexually molesting multiple boys in one of the homes he used to work in. Originally sentenced to twelve years, Mr Rigby spent three years in jail.
An article in The Telegraph details how Mr Rigby appealed, judges ruled that the conviction was unsafe and he was released. It’s a sad day for Britain when someone like Mr Rigby can get sent to jail for something he didn’t do.
He was the staff member in the house I used to live in. In all the years I was there, not one single time did I EVER see or feel anything even remotely inappropriate – there’s no way it could have happened at Nugent House, so what’s up with those bogus allegations.
Suffice to say I am very very happy that Mr Rigby was released, and I hope he sues the living fuck out of Merseyside Police, the Crown Prosecution Service and anyone else who conspired against him. The prosecutor should be held personally liable as should the investigating detective. Aside from having everything taken from them, auctioned and the proceeds to Mr Rigby, those fuckers should be prosecuted for criminal activity of some sort. We simply can’t allow the system to get away with depriving decent people of their reputation, dignity and above all their liberty. I’m gutted that that happened to someone I knew and respected.
Most of the staff at Nugent House were silly persons… the headmaster ‘Mr Mills’ was awesome, as was Mrs Lowe, Mr Moogan, Mr Atcheson, Mr Parker, Mrs Rice and the one and only Mr Mullins. There were a few others who made the time away from my family whilst I was at Nugent House School bearable… I’ll holler once I remember them.
To anyone who thinks it’s socially acceptable to smoke… think again you fucktards. A recent medical study in Scotland yielded proof about a marked improvement in people’s health after a smoking ban in enclosed public places.
Why do people not realise smoking stopped being cool in the sixties? What does it take to get people to realise it is NOT okay – whether it’s done in private or not. I sincerely believe that smokers should not be given ANY sort of medical treatment anywhere for any reason.
Get shot on the train by a punk after your money? Tough crap – you smoke, you forfeit. Your aeroplane overruns the tar macadam and your brain needs emergency surgery? Tough crap.. you smoke, you forfeit.
Governments need to get tough with these immature souls who are still smoking.
For those who are smoking now because they were peer pressured in school or in college… helloooooooooooo? Get over it you spineless punk bitches. The cool kids shouldn’t be holding sway over your life for the rest of it. Stupid stupid stupid.
Discriminating against smokers is perfectly okay, legitimate and morally acceptable simply because those fucktards are adding to the cost of healthcare and are making wait times for medical procedures longer with their smoking-aggravated problems. So next time you see someone smoking… call them an punkass moron – you’ll feel much better. Who knows… that may be the first step they need to quitting.
I recently set up a category for news stories connected with Nazi related subjects. I have a bit of a fascination with the silly persons who ran Germany during World War 2. You can view the category for Nazi New stories.
I always knew King Edward 8th abdicated… but as most people, thought it was because he married an American commoner. It seems that the commoner was a fan of Adolf Hitler and was passing information to him, so that’s why he was forced to give up the throne.
The fact that America used Nazi’s who were given entry to the U.S so it could further its agenda in the Cold War against the Soviets makes me sick.
What about the fact that Hugo Boss made uniforms for the Nazi’s during World War 2… that’s the main reason why I threw away a $70 bottle of Hugo Aftershave
This is the Community Centre. The rez recently started holding a bingo night on Monday nights. A family group use it for Christian worship stuff on a Sunday. It’s also used for General Band Meetings and Community Meetings. The old Health Office is located below.
Random pictures from around the reserve.
This is from the top of the hill that’s basically the entrance to the habitated part of the reserve.
This is the reserve firehouse that was supposed to cost $100,000. Mismanagement took it about $30,000 over budget. There’s no firefighters, and no fire engines either.
This is the Ochiichagwe’Babigo’Ining Band Office. It also houses the Health and Social Development staff who used to occupate the offices below the Community Centre.
This playground used to be located where the firehouse is now. It’s safe for kids to play on, as mine do but I remember something in the paper a couple of years back about standards to which it was constructed or something.
This is our powwow grounds. That big structure in the centre is called an Arbour – that’s where all the drum groups sit. The wooden shed-like structure to the right is the MC stand. That’s where all the audio equipment is usually set up.
This was another project set up by the Chief and Council before last. Intended to give training to Band Members, it never got finished on time and it too went over budget. It eventually got relocated. I’m not even sure if this is the original building either.
This is the heavy machinery that’s used on the reserve. The yellow grader works, but has frequent problems and is the one that’s usually used to clear snow in the winter. They bought the red grader about a year ago. It has more attachments but is older and less reliable I think.
